The walls of the Comedy Forum lounge room are covered with pictures of the comedians who have presented their comedy routines on the club's stage over the years. Dustin Diamond, former child star of "Saved by the Bell," has his photo hanging over the bar. Aisha Tyler is also up there as well. Two impressive people for this small comedy club that is located off I-70 in Saint Peters, Mo.

The club is situated at the end of a shopping center at 4141 N. Cloverleaf Dr. in St Peters. For those who are not familiar with this address, it is behind Burger King and Hooters.

Upon arrival, it will be easy to figure out this is not a classy joint. But the run-down glamour creates a certain charm and the customers seem to love it. The bar area has tables for seating so people can gather before or after a show to enjoy drinks with friends. The club offers a full bar with helpful staff that return with the drinks quickly. A long hallway to the left of the bar leads people to the restrooms and to the back entrance/exit of the comedy room. And yes, the restrooms are impressively clean. To the right of the bar is a door that leads to the comedy/dining area. A large light flashes when its time to be seated and two friendly bouncers check tickets and guide visitors to their seats.

Before the show begins, the wait staff enters the room to begin collecting orders from customers. There is a delightful selection of greasy bar food. Fried green beans, nachos, toasted ravioli, and mozzarella sticks are the most popular on the menu. The prices are reasonable and the food is quite tasty. And the waitresses bring it to you in a jiffy.

Working hard for their money, and an even better tip, one can expect the wait staff to be by your table enough times that you always have a full glass and never go without something you need.

The drink prices are not the best, but since the shows usually last just over an hour the cost in total is not that much. And if you sign up to receive emails from the Comedy Forum then you can actually attend one show a month for free, along with up to 7 guests. All you have to do is make reservations and then bring the email to the ticket box, located in the bar area, and you are in. This is a great offer, especially for those not-so-funny nights.

On Friday, Jan. 5, 2009, Ward Anderson from Atlanta, Ga. presented his act on the Comedy Forum stage. And though his name is not as well known as the former Screech Powers, he did a fair job at creating laughter throughout the evening. He made fun of himself, ranted about the forty-third president of the United States, and asked questions to crowd members to use their answers in his jokes.

Anderson has actually made appearances on The Speed Network, Comedy Central, on Canadian TV's "Much Music's Video on Trial," various CBS morning shows, and the NBC syndicated show "Daytime."

Anderson, known for his high-energy, physical comedy routines, jumped on stage with full force to begin his show. His witty humor and sarcastic comments quickly won the crowd's approval. He obviously enjoyed getting the crowd involved, and even poked fun at crowd members that he thought deserved it.

But audience members should not be overly chatty and disruptive, or else one of the friendly bouncers might make an appearance by your table and politely ask for a little less noise.

For the folks who shy away from vulgar comedy, the Comedy Forum is probably not their cup of tea. The comedians are known to be blunt, opinionated, and even ruthless at times. Anyone in the audience is game for them and might even become part the show. But for those who do enjoy a hearty laugh, cold beer, and a different type of entertainment on a Friday night - this is the place to go.

The Comedy Forum has an open-mic night on Monday evenings, starting at 8 p.m. Headliners perform on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings at 8 p.m. with both Friday and Saturday offering a 10:15 p.m. show as well. Happy Hour is from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on the headliner nights and on Monday Happy Hour prices are offered all night long, along with other specials.

Upcoming shows feature Dave Landau, Justin Leon, Mike Green and Heywood Banks. The shows cost anywhere from $12 to $20 per ticket.
