Saturday, August 16

Property damage - 7802 Natural bridge road

A window in an abandoned house was found to have been broken. The house is set to be demolished, and nothing else was determined to be disturbed.

Monday, August 18

drug violation - fugitive arrest millennium student center

A person was causing a minor disturbance in the game room of the Millennium Student Center. The UMSL Police responded and located the person, who is not an UMSL student. He was identified and determined to have active warrants out for his arrest.
Subsequent search during the arrest led to the discovery of drugs in the suspect's pocket. The suspect was arrested for the drug violation and outstanding warrants.

Property damage - 7701 south florissant Road, fine arts parking lot

Sometime overnight, two large windows to the bus stop were broken out by unknown person(s).

Tuesday, august 19

Stealing under $500 - Marillac Hall, Des Lee Technology Center

Sometime around May 17, 2008, an employee borrowed items from the Technology Center as part of her work. This employee resigned from the University in July 2008 and failed to return the borrowed property.
After several attempts with no contact, the Technology Center decided to file a Police report for the theft. The UMSL Police investigated and contact was made with the suspect.
The suspect agreed to return the items and the University decided not to prosecute.

Wednesday, August 20

Stealing under $500 - Marillac Hall, Des Lee Technology Center

A camera which belongs to the Des Lee Technology Center was stolen. The camera was taken from luggage of a faculty member while they were traveling on vacation.

Assault 3rd degree - Natural Bridge at west drive

A juvenile victim who attends Normandy Middle School was assaulted by four to five other juveniles while walking home from school. The suspects punched and kicked the victim several times, then left the area.
The victim did not have any visible injuries and did not require an ambulance. All the juvenile suspects were identified and arrested. This matter will be referred to the St. Louis County Family Court for criminal charges of assault.

Friday, August 22

Assault 2nd degree - University Meadows

Around 4 a.m. the UMSL Police Department received a call for a disturbance at the University Meadows Apartment complex. Upon arrival, it was later learned that an assault had occurred. The victim, who is a foreign student, suffered a cut to his ear.

The other foreign students indicated that some guys tried to start a fight with them. When the victim opened the apartment door, he was hit with a bottle. They then closed the door and called the police.

The victim was transported by ambulance to De-Paul Hospital for treatment for a 1 inch laceration. There are no suspects in this incident, and the investigation is ongoing.

Fugitive Arrest - Villa Building

The UMSL Police were notified of a student who had been acting strange and walking around talking out loud to herself last week when she moved in. They were concerned for the safety of the other residents.

The subject was identified and determined to have active warrants out for her arrest. The subject was arrested on these outstanding charges and transported to the St. Louis County Intake Center where she was being held pending the posting of bond.

sTealing Under $500 - Thomas Jefferson Library

This incident is a delayed report from August 21. A laptop computer was stolen from an unsecure office sometime between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. on August 21.

The faculty member reported that she left her office area for about one hour and left the room unlocked. When she returned, the computer was gone.

There are no suspects in this incident.

The UM-St. Louis Police Department is open 24 hours a day. If you see anyone that looks suspicious or out of place you are encouraged to call the UM-St. Louis Police at 516-5155 or 911 if it is an emergency.
